The leading news brand will join PRWeek, Campaign and Third Sector in backing the prestigious awards to recognise campaigns that use creative ideas to further positive causes.
The Independent is delighted to announce its debut partnership with The Purpose Awards 2026.
The Purpose Awards recognises campaigns that use creativity and bold ideas to further positive causes, celebrating the organisations behind them.
The Independent has always championed changemakers and has been at the forefront of initiatives that benefit society and the world. The news brand brings its principles of inclusion and innovation to life every day through its journalism, and its work with charity causes and campaigns; from partnering with Pride in London to launching the SafeCall appeal with the charity Missing People, and building safe houses for women and children escaping domestic abuse with its Brick by Brick fundraiser.
The Purpose Awards’ winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony on Thursday 4 June at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London.
Beth Gordon, Director of Brand Marketing and Communications at Independent Media, says: “The Independent is delighted to be part of The Purpose Awards, recognising and celebrating the people who are truly making a difference and changing lives. At a time like this, it’s more important than ever for brands to stand up for communities, champion meaningful principles, tell untold stories and act boldly and tangibly as a force for truth and for good.”
John Harrington, UK Editor, PRWeek says: “Since its inception, The Purpose Awards have been a great platform to recognise how marketing communications can work alongside corporations, brands, charities and the public sector to promote positive change in the world. We’re delighted that The Independent is joining us.”
