The Independent: The Pride List 2023

As part of its ongoing support for the LGBT+ community, The Independent is relaunching The Rainbow List as The Pride List, recognising extraordinary changemakers. The list began spotlighting LGBT+ leaders as the Pink List in 2000, with artist Sir Elton John, Olympian boxer Nicola Adams, and transgender actor Riley Carter Millington among those honoured over the years. 2023’s edition will renew that commitment to making the community’s voices heard, and celebrating those driving change.

England football star Beth Mead has topped The Independent’s 2023 Pride List, published on Sunday 4 May. The list, which was compiled in association with Pride in London, recognises the extraordinary changemakers who have defined the LGBT+ community over the last year.

The remaining top 5 were:

  • Comedian Joe Lycett
  • Singer and comedian Jordan Gray
  • Vogue editor Edward Enninful
  • TV and radio host Rylan Clark
