The Independent Announces its Return as Exclusive Global News Partner of Mighty Hoopla 2025

The Independent is delighted to announce today that it will return as the exclusive global news partner of the UK’s biggest pop festival, Mighty Hoopla. Following its most successful year to date, with 60,000 people in attendance, Mighty Hoopla returns in 2025 as a vibrant splash of colour in the UK festival scene. As a news brand with a long tradition of championing diversity and equality, The Independent is thrilled to build and grow this relationship, bringing live reporting, news, reviews, interviews and behind-the-scenes gossip from Brockwell Park while amplifying Mighty Hoopla’s celebration of queer joy, inclusivity and liberation.

Mighty Hoopla this year welcomes a set of all-female headliners, having recently announced global superstar JADE following popular demand. Performing on the main stage on Saturday 31st May, JADE joins an all-star trio of US R&B singer Ciara, 2010s icon Kesha, set to release a new album this July, and the two-time Eurovision representative for Sweden Loreen. This makes Mighty Hoopla 2025 the first ever UK festival to have only female headliners in one year.

Eclectic as ever, Mighty Hoopla will this year welcome artists including Jojo and Erika Jayne, Noughties and 2010s icons Jamelia and Pixie Lott, Daniel Bedingfield, Young Royals star and singer Omar Rudberg, Daphne & Celeste, Mutya Buena, Vincint, Vengaboys, Kash Nash with the The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, G Flip, and Lemar.

Continuing its platforming of electronic talent, The Bump stage will return to Mighty Hoopla with an electrifying line-up of talent to deliver euphoric, show stopping sets. Among the artists performing will be Jayda G, Allie X, Girls Don’t Sync, Elkka, Lion Babe, Big Freedia, The Illustrious Blacks and Tom Rassmussen.

The Independent will also be covering the return of Queertopia, a curated stage that will throw a spotlight on rising stars in the queer space. This year’s headliner will be visionary Moonchild Sanelly, who appears on the lineup alongside Jude York, INJI, Hannah Diamond, Majur, one of the rising LGBTQIAP+ voices in Brazilian music, award-winning songwriter charlieeeee, drag artists Barbs and Yshee Black, and Princess Julia.

The Independent and Mighty Hoopla could not be a better match, bringing the highlights of Hoopla’s creative and musical excellence to a readership that is fanatical about music and culture. This partnership underscores The Independent’s role as a trusted news brand that champions inclusivity, live music and community by collaborating with the best in the business.

Roisin O’Connor, Music Editor at The Independent, said: “I’m ecstatic that The Independent has teamed up once again with Mighty Hoopla festival, the biggest, most joyous and colourful celebration of all we love about pop music.
