The Independent wins big at AOP Digital Publishing Awards 2022

The Independent was honoured to receive four trophies at last night’s AOP Digital Publishing Awards, including the prestigious Grand Prix.

The Independent was honoured to receive four trophies at last night’s AOP Digital Publishing Awards, including the prestigious Grand Prix.

The Independent won the Best Research and Insight Project Award for its “comprehensive” and “thorough” approach to the groundbreaking Making Change Happen initiative, which led to fundamental changes to the business and a bold new articulation of the brand.

It was also recognised for its best-in-class CRM strategy, winning the Best Use of Data Award. The judges cited how The Independent had “set a blueprint” for best practice in user engagement, and the benefits this had had for both its brand and readers. The panel noted in particular the reduction in audience churn and significant improvements in subscription propositions.

And the news brand was delighted to pick up a Highly Commended honour in the Best Online Brand: Consumer Award category.

Finally, The Independent was crowned the Best Digital Consumer Publishing Company 2022. This ‘Grand Prix’ award, recognising the biggest achievements of the industry in 2022, topped off a hugely successful evening.

The Independent’s appreciation goes to all of the judges for recognising and highlighting its strive for digital publishing excellence, demonstrated throughout the brand’s 35-year history and honed since 2016, when The Independent became the first major news publisher to move fully online.
