Last week, at the prestigious Press Gazette British Journalism Awards, The Independent was once again recognised for its industry-leading journalism, with two of our editorial team receiving coveted trophies.

Both Rebecca Thomas (Health Correspondent) and Simon Caulder (Travel Correspondent) took home prizes, with Rebecca receiving the Health and Life Sciences Journalism award for “proper revelatory journalism, praised by health professionals and benefiting the public” and Simon scooping the Travel Journalism award in recognition of being “a fantastic consumer champion who led the way on all the big travel stories over the last year”.

The Independent was one of only 8 publications to win more than one award, a testament to the continued quality of our reporting. Congratulations to all the other winners and many thanks to the judging teams.
