The Independent at Pride in London

The Independent is once again the official news partner for Pride in London. The year-round partnership has included our LGBT+ changemakers Pride List, with news and views centralised on our new Pride Hub.

On Tuesday evening, we had the honour to attend the Pride’s Got Talent final which saw 10 queer performers compete to win exclusive prizes in two categories: music and cabaret. The Independent’s very own Culture and Lifestyle News Editor, Roisin O’Connor, sat on the panel of music judges that saw artist Andrea Di Giovanni take home the top music prize with Jordan Charles taking the top spot in the cabaret category. For a full overview of Pride’s Got Talent, see our piece on The Independent here.

This Saturday, members of The Independent team along with friends and partners will march in the Pride in London parade in celebration and protest. This year’s theme for Pride in London is Never March Alone which centres around trans and gender non-conforming people who are having their human rights challenged and stripped away.

Pride in London will take place across Soho and Mayfair on Saturday 1 July with events running throughout the day. We hope to see you there!

Montreux Jazz Festival

This year, The Independent is the exclusive online global media partner of the world-renowned Montreux Jazz Festival, which runs from 30 June to 15 July 2023 in Switzerland. One of the most revered events in music, Montreux has grown from its jazz roots in the 1960s to having more than 250,000 people descend on Lake Geneva each year to enjoy performances from some of the biggest acts in the world. This year, Bob Dylan, Lil Nas X, Mavis Staples, Sam Smith, Lionel Richie, Mark Ronson, Norah Jones, Iggy Pop, Janelle Monae and countless others take to the Montreux stage.

For your chance to win a pair of tickets to see Loyle Carner at the festival in Switzerland on Thursday 13 July, email Ashley Wood on ashley.wood@independent.co.uk with ‘Loyle Carner Montreux’ in the email heading by 1pm BST Friday 30 June.
